Just wondering. Hey Ultraslow, I remember you were having problems with the E-manage tuning in your turbo-I4. Maybe you could benefit from a CanScan and sort out what the problem is.

What do you guys use to monitor and log data on your boosted Solaras?

Still waiting on my digimoto kit to arrive.

Can monitor and save data while you drive. If that is what you are asking about. www.digimoto.com

Joe has the same thing.

I have a few and might buy another one  :drinking: . I have Car Codes, pretty good but the interface isn't very good. I have DigiMoto for the dyno capability but it sucked so I bought a G-Tech Comp. I have ScanTool which is good for scanning codes, very easy but doesn't do much else. I'm considering getting AutoTap. It looks good but expensive. They had an email that referenced the ability to monitor misfires and knock. I asked if it could do that for our car and they couldn't answer. -JoeB

Nice. I checked the digimoto unit and it's actually cheaper than most units out there. They have one of the coolest interface too. Too bad they don't work with the RX-8. They tried selling it to us and later found out it didn't work very well. They promised they would make a unit that would work with CAN by the end of the year.

i use the autotap.

its pretty cool, but i havent had time to really read up on it.

its a read only program, so dont expect to tinker with settings.

it only monitors and can record engine activity.

Maybe you can help me then. AutoTap sends out a periodic news letter and the one before last was talking about the ability to monitor misfire count and monitor knock. IF it really can do that, I'll buy one but I sent several emails back and forth to their tech support and they couldn't answer my question. They said I could buy it and return it within 30 days if it didn't meet my needs. They said it was up to the vehicle and the parameters it supports. If that is the case, I imagine it isn't any better than CarCodes. That is the way that CarCodes workes, it sends a querry to the ECU asking for supported parameters. What I don't know is, is this a pre-defined querry and CarCodes doesn't ask for it but AutoTap does. If so, maybe you could help me by checking through the supported parameters and let me know. What would be REALLY great is if you would send me (email) a list of the supported parameters. That's what their tech support asked me for. Thanks -JoeB

I've got one from AutoXray. Seems to work good and can monitor a lot of sensors in real time. Only problem I have had to diagnose was a loose gas cap, so it hasn't had much use yet.

I have digimoto unit but i dont use it to tune my car. I use it to turn my off my check engine light. The down side of digimoto is their response is too slow and i believe because it is using parallel type cable to load data isntead of USB. however, I use E-manage to tune my computer, that is much faster. still saving money on buying wideband O2 sesnor. dont you have e-manage too?

That's what they said the OBDII units, they send data too slow. They were not made for catching realtime data though. Most of them were just for reading data. The lag is terrible that you can't really use it for tuning applications that require on-time data.

Does the 04 Solara usa CAN protocol of OBDII? Or is it like the Gen 1s with just OBDII?

Yeah the refresh rate on ODBII is kinda bad. I think the max requests per second is 4.
