Well..woke up this morning and started my car...when I got back, I shut the car off and hear a strange noise. I popped the hood and it turns out my pcp valve was loose and disconnected. I have no idea how long it has been like that. The car does run fine though. Then by noon I decide to do and oil change. I ended up stripping the oil pan. I've done hundreds of oil changes and have never done that before :( . First question, what damages can occur w/ my pcp valve out like that? Second, besides buying a new oil pan...anyone else know what I can do stop my oil from leaking out of the plug. The plug will not tighten anymore.

I wouldnt worry about the PCV. The problems with the PCV start when it is dirty and closed up. For the oil drain plug I have no idea dude. Maybe coat the threads with a little bit of silicone?

I wish it was just that easy...the oil pan is stripped..the bolt is fine.

if you are going to re-thread the oil pan, i recommend you to take the oil pan out.

if you dont, metal shavings will be left inside the oil pan and can lead to bigger problems.

I would think you could get by without pulling the pan. Once you have it re-tapped, and the bolt installed, fill the crank case back up with oil and drain it again (without running the motor). That should flush most everything out.
