Battery cover/shroud thingy...

Battery cover/shroud thingy...

My battery died, so I got a new one at AutoZone ($50, 7 year). Interstate was closed, and they're my first choice. The new battery fits fine, but the black cover that protects the battery won't fit right because of the strap receivers on the battery itself. I figure I could grind them off because they stick out or just leave off the cover. Removing the strap will not solve the problem. I live in cold weather (Indiana), so should I put the cover on for the winter (grinding down those nubs on the case) or leave it off??? Holla.
