Interior Lights/Tire Size

Interior Lights/Tire Size

Just recently got a 2001 Black V6 SLE - awesome car.

A few questions for anyone who might know:

(1) I didn't find much variety in colored interior bulbs (dome light, front interior light, glovebox light, visor mirror lights, possibly lights that go behind the dash) at PepBoys. Any store or online store that carries different colored interior bulbs? I'm thinking blue or purple.

(2) Is something simple like replacing the interior bulbs easy enough for a non-techy like myself to do? I didn't see any visible screws - looks like one would have to pry out the plastic cover with a flathead or something...???

(3) Unrelated question - I know there are countless brands and kinds of tires based on priorities - performance, longevity, all weather, etc etc - but do all of these tires have to be the same exact height? I think the 2001 has 16" tires standard, right? So is it an option to jump to a 17" tire?

Any info would be much appreciated

:D

In regard to the tires, the SLE's had 16" tires, the rest had 15". Good source for tire info is tirerack.com. They have ratings and dimensions for all the tires -- plus if your looking for new rims, you can see how they would look on your car. It's pretty cool.

I've seen people say that, but then again i've seen SLE's with 15inch rims as well. So i don't know if 16's are std.

Try www.autolumination.com. Check the following link for more info on bulbs. http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopic.php?t=10319

Its not the tires that are 16", its the wheel. The tires are made to fit on 16" wheels.. Check the sidewall of your tire for size. Its three number listed like 205/65/15. You should match all three when replacing just the tires. when changing wheels and tires, you need to properly "plus size" to keep the spedometer approximately the same. More info at www.tirerack.com about that. I think all trims were available with 15s and 16s, but I could be wrong. I think the SE come with 15s and 16s available, with 15" steelies standard, and the SLEs with 16s standard.
