Last week my mom was driving my car to work when somebody did a hit and run on her. They rear ended her at around 10-15 mph she said when she was turning into her office parking lot. She was fine but a little shooken up and didn't want to tell me because she new that I would go nuts if i new she didnt' chase that fool down who hit her. Anyway when she got home i went to the rear of the car and did a little look over. The only thing that i could find was one scratch and a missing chip of paint. Aparently this wasnt' the first rear bumper inccodent that she has been in with the car. She told me that she hit a parking lot light while backing up once, but there was nothing there at all from that one. Today I confirmed that Solara's are "beasts" while in accidents under 15 mph. I saw a gen 2 in the parking lot of my grocery store that had a massive white looking scar down the driver side door. I was around 1' by 3'-4' in size. I had a tear come up in my eye and thought poor baby what evil car did that to you. Then upon a closer look I saw that there was not even a small scratch or little ding in the door. It was just a big patch of paint from an accident. Then I laughed histarically and thought to myself that this Solara must have kicked the crap out of what ever did that to it for the other car to leave that much paint and not even put a ding in her. I took a nice panaramic picture of the rear of my car after the hit and run and hope to get that scanned and put up on my cardomain site soon. Has anyone else here gotten into some accidents where they have gotten away with no damage or very minor damage?

Somebody hoodslided my car and damaged the hood and both fenders. Also my trunk folded like a can against a mailbox. Perhaps they are only beasts in motor vehicle accidents

Huh, maybe it is just the different angles and speeds at which the contact occurs. All of the contacts with other things in my car have been below 15mph.

its a beast..and a bitch to fix!! someone backed out of a parking spot and hit my driver rear quarter panel, right on the spot where the rear connects to the rear bumper..estimated at 2000 to repair, it ended up costing the shop 5,500 to repair, what a bad place to be hit..

once my mom ran into a cement parking pole at 5-10 mph..just left me with a crinkled plate and two indentations from the plate.

I got rear-ended once on the highway. Me and everyone else slammed on the brake because of an incident ahead and the girl behind me fixing her makeup didn't. She locked up the brakes in her little Hyundai at the last second but slid into me at around 25mph I'm guessing. It hit me hard enough I almost hit the car in front of me and pulled a muscle in my back. The funny thing is as I saw her coming towards me sliding, all I could think of was, "NO, NOT MY CAR!" We pulled over and I expected the back to be tore up and all it had was 2 little marks, barely noticeable. I still got the whole thing replaced since the structure part under the bumper skin was damaged.

The rest of the car is a completely different story. I get WAY too many rock chips. Door dings are way too easy and it just seems to dent way too easily in general. -JoeB

My wife and I were eating in a restaurant when she saw our car jump up. She was afraid to tell me at first but after 30 seconds let me know that the woman about to walk away from her minivan had hit Sunny. I walked outside and let her know my wife had seen her hit my car. I checked it for damage and there was nothing. Not even a smudge. I guess Chryser minvan bumpers perfectly line up with Solara license plate holders. I let her go since there was no damage. If there had been a scratch I would have made her go through the insurance company. It's nice to know the Solara bumpers can take a light hit without scratching.

Your posts made me feel alot better. I guess I'm just unlucky with the car. In my old collage I got hit about three times a semester, all hit-and-run. I still have my front bumper damaged, two dings on the passengers door and two scratches on the drivers panel. I can't stand dings, I just go crazy  .
