Rattling noise from front driver wheel

Rattling noise from front driver wheel

Postby SleeperSolara » Tue Jan 18, 2005 10:01 am

Ok, it just started happenin' wit my car, the driver front wheel.
When i hit certain bumps in the road, there is a rattling that comes from the driver wheel.
I know my lugs are tight on the wheel like no other.
It only rattles when i got over certain bumps, then it stops until i hit other bumps similiar or whatever.
What do you guys think it is??
Could it be the bearings of the wheels or what.
I'm goin to the dealership to see what they think it is, but wanted to ask what you guys think it is.

i assume strut mounts.

have you ever had any suspension work done before?

check your rear sway bar to see if everything is on tight.

Could you narrow it down from the strut to what part of the strut.
It sounds like it's near the wheel; so could it be the bolts that hold the strut to the wheel assembly??
I never messed wit the strut at all, only the brake lines, and the brake caliper.
I've only messed wit the top of the struts where the strut bar mounts.

i had the exact same thing happen to me when my car was stock, except it was on the passenger side. I just took it to the guy i bought it from, a mechanic, and he just replaced the strut. It's definitely the strut tho, according to everyone else as well. Is your car under any kind of a warranty? If not, and since you plan on upgrading suspension...I'd just leave it 'till then, but that's just me. josh
