How much give from the side?

How much give from the side?

My friend was backing a garage and didnt see my car behind him and hit the passeger rear between the wheel well and the start of the bumper. It's about a foot in diameter dent with some paint taken off. I'm bringing it to my Toyota dealer for an estimate for insurance but onto my question.

How much givedoes a car have laterally (from the side). Is it possible to mess up any rear alignment or suspension components from lateral force? Just making sure I find out down the road that something got messed up other than the body that insurance could have coverd.

I think im in a similiar situation right now, except mine is on the driver side. Its in the rear panel right under where the gas door is and its dented in a little and paint is scuffed and cracked. Its like right before the bumper so my bumper is ok. I havent gotten a estimate on it yet though sorry. Im pretty sure the frame is ok though.

best bet is to get more than one estimate, pretty much toyota body shops are more pricer (cus of their affliation with dealerships), but its always good to get a few qoutes and work from there...

His ma is an insurance agent so he has great insurance. I'm just going to the dealerships repair shop and getting a quote today after class. I'm also wondering about how they will take care of the paint that got taken off. Since it is not on a removable panel or anything do they do a whole new paint job or just fill it in?
