1999 Solara SE - Will 2004 17" rims fit?

Postby Sirkbac » Sat Feb 19, 2005 10:43 pm

Will the extended lugs cause any issues when I go back to the stock rims with no spacers? Any need to buy open ended lug nuts for the rear? I'm not overly keen on the spacer deal, I was told the 04 rims would fit so you could imagine how thrilled I was when I heard rubbing.

I'll look into the studs and hubcentric spacers this spring.

I would imagine the studs would stick out a bit further on the lug nut, but the center cap should cover it (assuming you have SLE wheels) At the moment im using the lugs my SLE came with, with no issues. Also the kit you're looking for is made by H&R. http://www.hrsprings.com/site/products/trak.html The kit cost me $120, and the install was $90. So after all the trouble iwent through, I decided it wasnt worth it :-?

Yeah, thats a hair more fancy a kit than the $4 spacers I found a pep boys. You know which kit would be the one to use for a 2000 SE (rear drums)? 1/4" spaceing was all I needed to clear the rear suspension. I don't need to pay anyone to do the work for me, so thats a few dollars saved.

I believe you can get away with using their 10mm kit, but don't quote me. I purchased their 15mm kit, and for some reason my tires rub against something when I have 3 other ppl in the car..but im stock height?

I am running 215/50/17 and they rubbed ever so slightly in rear. 225/55-50/17 would rub far worse.

okay, so the final thought is that spacers have to be used right? what size spacers do we need? and even with the spacers will it be possible to drop the car?

I'm selling my set of 04 rims now if you are still looking. I traded in the Solara for a 02 Mazda Protege5.
