99 Solara

Hi, I'm new here but I've been reading for a couple of days. So I have a 2000 mazda protege and I am interrested in buying a 1999 Solara Se V6 fully loaded (except leather  ). The car has 110 000 kilometers (I'm from Canada) and seems to run well. The guy is going to change the timing belt, the battery, the abs sensor, and a couple of other little thing.

I was wondering if any of you already had problems with your Solaras.

I'm supposed to go back to see it this week, what should I check? Are there places that usualy break? leak? rust?

Also, do you think the price is good? It's 13000 CAD (about 10 500 USD) with both taxes included (15%)

Thanks a lot! :D

yeah my dad had six camrys and he says it's the best car in the world!! but he always had the 4 cylinder so I wanted to know if the 6 cylinder was as good as the 4.

for the price, I looked around in my area and it's not that expensive compared to others, plus, it is already lowered with the TRD suspension

My experience with toyota engines.... Me: 1995 V6 148,000 miles no problems / 1999 Solara V6 86000 miles no problems ((the 95 actually pulled on the solara from 0-70ish by half a car with 148K on the engine)) Dad: 4 different camry 4cylinders 1992,1993,1995,1997 all sold with around 160k miles each... no problems. Friend: 1991 camry 208,000 miles NO PROBLEMS other than a broken timing belt... "and it was the original belt" Toyotas are the most reliable cars in the world...hands down...bar none... end of conversation. Honda is second followed by Subaru and Nissan in my opinion.

ya, you can beat this car up and it wont go soft on you.
im rough on mine, way rough.

maybe some little things like: its hard to change spark plugs and stuff, but as far as major crap outs, solara is very dependable
