Mudguard area

I took my mudguards off and the passenger rear side is nasty... I been in an accident and after they fixed it I guess they painted the area with the mudguard on. So when i took the mudguards off, that area wasn't smooth and I can not claybar/tar removal spray it off. My question is... What are my options to fix it? Can i do it myself? I was thinking sand it down... primer it... and then paint it... I have never done anything like his myself and I dont wanna F it up.

try bringing it back to the shop. where it was fixed at and ask them whatsup?? its not your fault that they did a mickey mouse job. you shouldnt pay out of your own pocket for their mistake. or atleast tell them to hook u up with a deal to fix it.. if they dont want to pay out of their own pocket. and 2nd if you dont want to f'd up the car. dont try to fix it. (if you dont know what your doing, dont try it.) your better off having it done professionally. for me.. i would just leave it their until i have the cash to fix it. i rather have my car look hurt, than to see a bad job done on it. just my opinion.

agreed. painting it your self is not a good idea at all.

aight... as for what mel said... It was fixed after a accident like I said. They charged me $1000 to fix and replace the bumper and paint it. I received a check of $2500 from the insurance company. So i had no complaints about the money situation lolz. I'll prolly sand it lightly so it'll be smooth and use a lil touch up paint and clear coat so it wont be that noticable.

true true but nonetheless. im broke and cant stand the site of it... i'll take pics and show you guys. It's like staring and smelling barf on your lap all day.

ok man, looks like ur going against our advice, so dont say we didnt warn ya. a couple of tips on sanding, make sure to keep the area wet with lots of lube, try soap and water. use the finest sandpaper you can buy, the higher grit count the better. for your touch up paint, add just a little paint thinner into it so itll spread more easily. also afterwards make sure you let it dry, and you'll want to use some polishing compound and then sealant.

thats the support I was looking for!!! but seriously if you were broke and had this ugly spot with a trd kit coming in soon. You'd be anxious to get rid of it like I am

i say.. just go get it buffed.. and see how bad the dmg is.. and work from there..

Really fine sand paper to wet sand it a bit......shouldn't be more then that....I know where your coming from on this becuase I had the same type of problem except mine was where the clear protective strips sit...got it to look better then what it was but isn't perfect.

We'll take a look at it when I help you install the kit.

got the pic... as u can see that silver line... its not smooth, my theory is when the shop put the new bumper on and painted it, they didn't wait for the paint to dry before they put the mudguard back on
