JBL amp underneath the glovebox?

JBL amp underneath the glovebox?

Well, we all know what the headunit is like. To my surprise, when I take out the glove compartment to do some wiring for the sub, I see that there's a JBL unit there. I am wondering what the heck is that... If that is an amp, that means the cd player has preamp out? If the cd player doesn't have preamp output, then what is that JBL unit???

BTW it's a 2000 Solara with this cd player:

That unit that u have displayed is just a control panel. The amp is where the power comes from. Its not really a preamp out. Are you trying to hook up subs?

Nope. External amp like the single disc player.

What I am trying to do is... replace the head unit.

I already hooked up the sub using speaker level input on the amp.

If I replace the head unit, I will have to remove that JBL external amp then?

What if I get a wiring harness for Solara, where will I connect the harness to from the head unit? This is giving me a headache.

ok if your replacing the head unit, it should have preout(sub or mono is preferable) and you can use the normal harness, it double back to a normal harness up to the right behind the head unit, switching the head is really pretty simple. if you have any more questions or problems you can leave me a message.
