gas gauge

i probably should just put this at the end of the car starter topic, but....

i'm getting nervous about my gas gauge with all the trouble i had w/ the gauges from the car starter. like my speedo and tach were both malfunctioning that one day. i'm worrying now though that even though they're working, maybe they're not accurate (like my speedo says 30mph, but i feel like i'm going faster...where are those speed things that cops set up so you see how fast you're going when you need em!).

i've been paying attention to my gas mileage and i've already gotten the mileage w/ a half a tank what i normally get w/ almost a whole tank..so i'm getting really nervous...the gauge says i have a half a tank, but i have a feeling it's less..i don't wanna run outta gas!

i'll probably just have the gas station fill it till it's full to see how many gallons it takes and just compare that w/ how full the gauge said it was to begin w/ (keeping in mind it's 18.5 gallons total)

i know gunman (or maybe krooked) mentioned they thought the shop accidently tripped my wire for the tach or something...would any of those wires interfer w/ the gas gauge???

Hey Miss, why don't you try driving with a full tank and gauging/estimating it with a routine drive. I know from my gas station to my house it/s 1.1 miles. So if I had a similar problem, I'd fill my gas tank up, drive home and drive back. Fill up the tank, and based on my expected fuel consumption, 20 mpg, I'd have used up 0.11 gallons. In your case, you might try a longer drive though.

I've been noticing my mileage has decreased to about 18 miles recently (down from 20). I'm not sure what is causing it and I'm not driving any differently.

As for speed, why don't you have a friend drive next to you on the highway and tell your pacer (friend) to drive 55 mph, repeat at 60mph, and repeat again at 30mph somewhere else. Just for a sanity check.
