Is TRD discontinuing everything they make for the solara? Or are they still going to make some of the stuff for a while like the supercharger, rear swaybar, muffler, etc. Cause Im wondering if i should buy the TRD rear sway bar now.

I thought with the proven profit margin of the Scion accessories, Toyota would extend, not reduce, the line of available add-ons.

Perhaps the typical Solara owner just doesn't do that much customization.

Too bad.

I thought I'd heard some talk about Toyota re-vamping TRD.

Doy ou think if they did they would only come out with new stuff for the 3.3 liter and prospective 3.5 liter engines all the while forgetting about the days of the 1MZ-FE.

I doubt they'd come out with anything for us gen 1 guys, but those with later model Solaras may be in luck.

Trd pisses me off. then again maybe its our fault for not showing much interest in their products. of course we all like their superchargers and kits etc. but how many of us actually buy any of it? i really just wish they made more trd solaras right out of the factory. just my 2 cents.

^^So true. Factory options typically get you a higher level of quality. However, any option content adds a lot of cost and confusion to the plant.

It's probably not cost effective for Gen2 TRD factory options, probably wasn't for Gen1 either.

An alternative is what Mitsu and Subaru are doing with their rally cars, the "tuner ready" versions they offer. Pretty good idea; good price point, easy to build at the plant and lightweight.

Well think about it this way. The typical buyer of a solara is the type of person who wants a practical yet sporty looking ride. Most of them probably dont even know what a supercharger is and if they did they still wouldnt care about having one. As far as people that are into cars and own solaras we probably make up like 3% of the solara owners that want the performance parts. And 2,700 bucks really isnt that much money for a supercharger, but that kind of money may be a lot of money to a college guy or highschool kid who doesnt have the money. So i can see why trd isnt going to do anything with our car anymore. They need to make money and not loose it.

And I agree subaru and mitusibishi do have a good idea going. I would really love to have an STi.

Thank god for the Scion tC! That 2.4 I4 has added a Supercharger to the TRD parts list of the gen 1.5 I4 Solara so we can add a little more factory juice! http://www.scion.com/assets/media/pdfs/ ... ochure.pdf (See page 7 of this brochure)
Does anyone know if the flywheel is the same on both? Fidanza is supposed to release a lightweight flywheel for the TC soon, hoping it fits the Solara I4 as well.

And the TRD supercharger for the I4 will get you a whoppin 40 ponies extra tohte fly wheel. we'd be around 190 at the crank and 150-160 to the wheels. You might be able to keep up with a completely stock RSX. then again, maybe not. There is a thread stickied about the ZPI turbo kit for the 2az. Much better buy if you ask me. If you want, Ill add you to the list so we can get it made!
