Did the light go on for routine maintanance or could there potentially be a problem?

im not positive on that.. I don't think having low tranny fluid would throw one... just run to autozone or something where they pull codes for free, then post it up here.. and ill help you out

Ok I did a search and found out it's either the O2 sensor after the CAT or the CAT.

Anyway to do tell which it is? I guess the cost of the 02 sensor is worth replacing it and seeing if it fixes the problem.

You could just go with both sensors... but aren't they expensive?

My Haynes manual goes through the procedure, I feel that everyone on this board that knows ho to check the oil should have one.

Basically you check the voltage at the sensor at running temp by stuffing a pin thru the back of the connector on the sensor. 0.1 to 0.2 cold, fluctuating between 0.1 & 0.9 hot. The location for the connectors on a 4 cylinder are : upstream: L/H sidwe of cylinder head.
downstream: (this sounds wierd) : "Underneath the passenger seat. It is normally neccessary to remove the seat and carpet for access"

Also make sure the heater circuit gets 12 volts with the key on.

Good luck

P.S. an obd-II scanner is a good investment with new cars, if you want to work on them. I know the parts store will scan them for free, but I can scan mine on tuesday morning in my P.Js :drinking:

My dads a little better at checking electrical stuff so I'll bring the car over there and we'll go over it together.

How much does the ODB-II cost?
