You guys should try a BMW 745Li with the Convenience Package... If you close the door TOO lightly (e.g. to the first detent), it'll mechanically bring itself shut. *whir* Done. But I think the problem lies within the Solara's doors being too heavy, thus creating extra force needed to close the doors unless you gently bring it to a close and maybe lean against the door with your body weight or a good, hard yank, but I don't see that being practical.

I'm happy as long as the door closes. I've had some cars where it wouldn't even do that.

Have you seen how they fit doors in an assembly plant, it's not pretty. 2x4's and mallets are the preferred tools, I would not want a sales lady jumping up and down on my door.

Put a thin layer of vaseline on the door seals, I think it will help a tad.

Actually people slamming the doors isn't as bad as them closing the door by pressing on the glass (my dad even leaned against the open door talking once and scared the hell out of me) in my opinion... I'd hate to replace and re-tint a window for someone putting too much pressure on the glass.

ive got people trained on how to shut the door on my car. ive had people slam it then they have to listen to me flip out on them about the correct way to shut the door of a mega high performance super machine such as the solara *clears throat*.
the brand new jaguars doors are so light you can blow them open with the slightest breath. the weight contributes to how the door sounds when shutting. the solara door is heavy and loose sounding when shut, im not sure if its the weight or components in the doors. but you have to think. my idea is to put as much dynomat in the doors as i can. if that doesnt cut down on noise i dunno what will.

im guessing theres a fatass bumper in there or something for side impact... too heavy for a shell of a door and a window
