Supercharger Removal Help!!

Postby Paladin06Greg » Sun Oct 16, 2005 7:31 am

I've complete some more TS into my engine problem. As I said earlier I removed the SC and found oil leaking from it but no evidence of metal shaving or chunks. This morning I remove the oil service plug and drained less then one ounce of oil from the SC. TRD states the correct oil service level is 100 milliliter = 3.3814023 ounce [US, liquid]. Guess it was a little low.

Next I pulled and disassembled my engine oil filter draining all oil thru a clean white cloth (don't tell the wife). It to showed no evidence of metal contamination. So far so good.

Also because there was so much noise in the engine compartment and to further eliminate any possibility of engine damage, I removed the valve covers and verified the intake and exhaust valve clearances. The measurements were perfect and there was no unusual heat or wear indications, so that's good.

I've got some gaskets, rubber hoses and a bolt to buy and wait on my SC to install.

More later.

wow... i actually had the same problem, but mine was different because it happened during the install. It set me back 1 entire day because i could never get the bolt to thread on the s/c right going through the black bracket. There is ZERO space and I'd be scared crap if that ever happened to me in such a tight space.

speaking of that troublesome bolt, i remember that i accidentally stripped off, AND broke that bolt head off, when i did the original SC install in my car.

i understand that it was a ground point, and i just attached it to a nearby grounding bolt. is this okay?

(kinda too late to ask now since it's been on a couple of years already... :p)
