WOW! I got 24 mpg going from Dallas to Amarillo and an AMAZING 34mpg going from Amarillo to Denver! I have a V6. My friend that was with me said that his sister gets 40mpg hwy on her 4 cylinder Camry.

Is 34mpg right? Coming back we got about 32mpg. I know the manual says 20mpg hwy, so 24 is believable, but 30+???

It's definitely do-able. I've done 32.2 on the Avalon on a trip from CA to San Antonio...from Anthony,TX (Exit 0 on I-10) to Sonora, TX (Exit 400 I-10). It's always around that mileage in West Texas and through parts of AZ and New Mexico. This was done using cruise at 75mph using 86 octane (since it's high elevation in that area), and a full load of luggage and 2 other passengers.

The 1MZ-FE is a very efficient engine. 28+ is definitely do-able in any well maintained 1MZ-FE, manual or auto...of course with proper air pressure in your tires, constant freeway cruising speeds and mostly flat straight roads.
