Removing the vents.

I tried to search but does anyone have a trick for removing the two side vents not the center two on a 2000 Solara.

I need to gain access to the vents :)

Any help is much appreciated.

So do we think that the whole dash has to come out to access these ducts?

No you have to take the knee dash part out and the metal part behind the plastic one.
There are 2 screws that hold the driver side vent, not sure about eh passenger vetn either.
I've been wantin' to put some LED's in there but no time and can't find a small enough screwdriver to get up in there to gte it open.
If you succeed in gettin' the driver vent and the passenger vent out let me know.
That would help.
Thanks.

Popped this little cover off and got a 8mm bolt looks like. Don't want to take it out because I have no idea where to go from there.

No way to get this little section out as a unit?

I assume the knee section is above the glovebox and below the wooden trim. BTW the passanger side does not have a bolt on the end like the drivers side.

I took off my glove box and climbed under. I gained access to the bottom of the vent its pretty damn secure and unable to get into it any more. But I think we could just simply drill a hole or few for our LEDs and put them in facing up and silicone them. If you get really bright LEDs from www.oznium.com they should be able to glow bright enough to show the effect into the cabin. Even drill a hole slighty larger, bend the LED power and grouned wires into a right angle get the LED where you want it and silicone the hole up from the bottom and you have a perfectly glowing vent.

I did not try and access the driver's side vent, but I hope its as easy as taking that bottom cover off and just looking up like on this one? Any idea?

Check out my interior, you coulda just PMed me. I did all mine. And with nothing more than some elbow grease and a flat head screwdriver.

All you have to do is use the right amount of force and you can pry them out with a flat head, and then pop them back in. i didnt take apart any of my dash.

And for those upper vents, you can just pull them out with a little force.

Good luck...
