I know solaras either have a sunglass holder by the rear view mirror or a garage door opener, but I have something else it has a little square in the middle that pushes up. It almost lookes like a tissue dispenser. What could this be? whatever it is I hope it adds horsepower!!!

hey solara00! it's supposed to be for the garage door opener. you use that little velco piece to attach to the back of your garage door opener and affix it in that compartment. the small square piece that pushes up is so that you can push the garage door opener button w/o opening the compartment.

Well that sucks. I thought I was getting atleast 10 horses out of that "garage door opener" as you all call it! I've recently aquired a sunglass holder to put in its place. This should give me the horsepower im looking for. As for the garage door opener, if anyone needs it I'll send it to them as long as the shipping isnt gonna break me.

How many of you all use that for your garage door's....I'd rather have those slide by the passanger sunviser (and have my shades handy) than have my garage door handy!

Sorry, that's an age old idea. My friend was the first to install his S-AFC in that location...when we figured out we could use the S-AFC for the Camry platform. This was back in 2001. BTW, that's not really a smart location to put it in since it's closest to the roof and it gets extremely hot in that location on warm sunny days. Not too swift for electronic equipment.

I beg to differ, you have an airspace between the roof and the liner as well as between the roof liner and the AFC. It sill get no hotter than those that mount it on the dash or a location which gets hit by direct sunlight. The car is not a good location for any electronics!!!
