Differential Fluid change

Postby noodlerooney » Mon Nov 21, 2005 9:19 am

Hey, no problem. By the way, a total automatic transmission fluid change on my 2000 SLE V6 is about 12 quarts. Draining the transmission pan does not change out the fluid in the torque converter, etc. For a complete transmission fluid flush, I like to use the "remove transmission cooler return line from radiator" procedure. There is much information on this procedure in this forum. A good rule of thumb is the transmission pan contains about 40% of the total transmission fluid capacity. I also looked again at my differential and noticed that there was a plugged "potential" (plugged by engine casting) raised hole where the filler plug would be.
