i am changing my fuel filter today..i could find much searching this board

anyway looks like it is right in front of/below the brake fluid resevoir. my question is the manual say to release the fuel pressure by removing the back seat gaining access to the hole/sending unit?..then it referes me to a chapter that refers me back to the beginning

book screw up

anyway is this necessary to relive the pressure from here or can i justr wrap or cover the filter itself and relieve the pressure from there

any help is appreciated..last warm day in new england probably :-?

i've never heard that, i just go under the hood and get that baby off and put the new one on. Although I must tell you the two fuel filters I've done have taken forever because it sucks to get the hose off the filter, its on tighter than anything I've ever seen. Just make sure you use two wrenches, one for the fuel filter to hold it, and another to uncrew the hoses bolt. There will be some fuel that probably shoots out the hose so close your mouth, haha. Good luck.

If the car sits without running for about an hour, the fuel line pressure will be around zero. I don't think the gas cap has anything to do with fuel line pressure. Specifications require the fuel line pressure to be xxpsi xxminutes after shutting down engine (not full operating pressure). Over time, about an hour, all pressure is lost in fuel line system. If you wait, you will not get showered with gas. The fuel filter bolts are a b**ch tho....

I always unplug the fuel pump under the back seat just to make sure I don't get too much gas when changing it but it's not that big of a deal.
