Why not the Solara 02-03 SE - Sport Package version? i.e. 3 spoke w/chrome emblem

It's actually sport package + appearance package for 02 and 03. I have sport package for my 02 SE and didnt get the nice 3-spoke steering wheel. That would have been cool... tsk tsk.

Do you think the dealership would give an aftermarket upgrade for that?

Yeah because you have a 4cyl not V6.

You can order that steering wheel from any dealer. The wheel and airbag itself should be around the $800+ range.

ouch! $800+? I wouldnt want to spend that much for a steering wheel change.

By the way, is it just me or does our Solara have a really big steering wheel?

Solara, Lexus, and Celica Steering wheel has the same diameter.

Celica steering wheel is much lighter.

It is probably because it is a semi Luxary car, it is not meant to be a sports car and wasn't designed to be. I think the standard wheel is about the same size as all cars in its class.

If I recall correctly, Jaime (Solara1) has this package in his car. Otherwise go to Toyota.com.
