I've been meaning to ask this since I got my car in November......

I found this small sealed cellophane package in the glove compartment that has two oval rubber plugs (grommets I guess) and the package says:

ATTENTION - pre-delivery inspector, please install these plugs in the center floor support extensions. ( Or something like that ).

I looked around and didn't see any obvious place that they should go...

Familiar to anyone??

those are body plugs that are installed on the frame of the vehicle during its pre-delivery inspection.

they are no big deal if they are not in.
bring them with you to the dealer when you get your first oil change and they will install them for you.

What purpose do they serve? Keep water in? :( Keep water out? :)
Had a 99 Solara SE V6. Had a 06 Tacoma. Now I have a 2008 Camry SE V6

they fill the holes in the frame from where the machinery at the factory lifts the frame and such.

IMHO they keep water in.......but its hard to prove this.

I'm one of those know it all driveway mechanics that does his own service work. Been doing it for over 25 years. What could a factory trained, certified mechanic know that I don't know ?? :D

Heh, heh. only use the dealer for warranty work or last resort.

The install is easy, it just pops right in...no need for a service guy to install it for you. Unless your car is lowered and you can't get good access.

I STILL have these plugs and have yet to install them. More like forgot...

Anywho- do you guys think I should install them or just leave it alone? I still have them factory sealed and just realized I still had them... If so where exactly are these center floor side member extensions located?
