Engine knocking

Engine knocking

I was just wondering if anyone has had a slight knocking in the engine for about a second during take off? It really only happens when I gun it from a stand still.

i'm, assuming is a 4cyl.. try 2 tanks of 93 octane and see if it runs better? if not the could just be ur valves tapping.. (more sound like this on the V6 models) or then the worst yea it could be a rod knocking

try some STP Fuel Injection cleaner and STP throttle body cleaner...you might just have dirty injectors

Its a V6 and all I use is 93 or 91 octane gas, so if its a rod does that mean a engine rebuild?

I had that issue onces and they replaced my MAF sensor and it went away. Yours might be the same or a different sensor. Because usually if the throttle is dirty, it sholdnt cause that huge of a lag. Now you shuold open up and see if theres built up on the valves of the throllte positioner to make sure thers no built up there..if there isnt then it might be sensor.

is the MAF sensor the same as knock sensors or are they different? Are parts expensive.

Comparing it to other cars, yes its kind of expensive. KNock sensors arnt MAF sensors. I think oem maf sensors are like 66 bucks...But Id througly check your car first to see what It really is causeing the issue.

how many miles are on your car, how old are your spark plugs, have you had a dealer look at your car, what air filter do you have, how dirty is it and what other maintenance has been done or needs done?
