Gen 1 fascia conversion?

Gen 1 fascia conversion?

Postby GenerationOne » Fri Feb 10, 2006 6:53 pm

Just curious if anyone has tried or would know if it is possible to convert the front fascia of a Gen 1 to that of the Gen 1.5? My main concern has to do with the lines along the front of the hood, if they changed the shape then the headlights won't work, and then there goes that idea. I'd greatly appreciate any feedback, success stories or heads up on this project. Thanks guys.

according to ceejay hughes (Mr Nov in the SG Calendar ) it is possible... think its a little more costly especially the headlights from indiglosolara's experience... but might as well get the black housed headlights

Mole got major parts done, but you will have to keep in mind the front corner lights are of different shape, and possibly the fenders... the fog lights will have to be changed as well...

Wiring of headlights are different too. Gen 1 headlights use H4 bulbs (dual filament- high/low beams together in one bulb), while the Gen 1.5 uses a single filament bulbs for the low beam, and another single filament bulb for high beams... think theyre both 9006??

good luck.... and if you end up doing the project, i guess you can use the "easier to find TRD kits"
Retired... its been fun Image

i dont know why you would want to do that anyway... i think the gen1.5 headlights look kinda goofy with that nice line, and then the oddly out of place half circle

I was gonna do a front end conversion until I found out the cost of parts, even at the prices I could get them at it wasn't worth it. The way I figure it is, if you didn't get into a front end collision and your front end is fine.......theres no point to do the conversion. The cash could be spent on other things of more use unless you have possibly nothing left to do to your car.

just my 2 cents.
