Maintenance

Postby Solara916 » Sat Feb 11, 2006 1:50 am

Hey guys...I've had my Solara since 01 and it now has over 115k miles on it. I've only had one major maintenace to it (at 60k) and I'm thinking its time for another.

I've never had any issues other than those brought on by do-it-yourself repairs (thanks to my faja), but someone mentioned to me that I might need my timing belt replaced, so that's what got me thinking about bring it in for the 100k maintenance.

Is there anything else I should get done? Do i even have to worry about the timing belt? Is there anything that I missed out on other than routine checks by only bringing it in once?

Feedback would be REALLY appreciated.

usally your big services ar at 30k, 60k, 90k, and 120k so your about due. yes get the timming belt replaced, also plugs, trans service, coolant flush, and injection flush wiht a throtle body clean. unfrotanatley this will be expensive mainly becasue of the timming belt but, you need it. you dont want that thing breaking.

when you replace timing belt, you should replace the water pump as well. Because they are same procedure and you dont want to do it twice (cost more money for you).

30K, 60K, 90K, 120K are the more extensive maintenances. Usually I believe its called the Blue Service and major flush of almost all vital fluids and the other suggestions that were said here.

If your replacing your timing belt, may i suggest replacing your other drive belts at the same time
1. alternator belt
2. power steering belt
3. a/c fan belt.

Its like additional $45 is parts (belts) but most places do it free since the labor cost covers replacing them for the same timeframe involved in a timing belt service.

Also have your tranny drain and filled and see if you can 'seafoam'.
