Alarming Problem!!

I have had it up to HERE with my alarm on my remote!!!
I have a 2000 SLE and whe the designers came up with this remote they had a MAJOR flaw, the alarm is too easily triggered. I mean at 6 am when I am getting in the car , my alarm goes off---I was holding the keys too hard, in the afternnon when I come home I am holding the keys, my purse, and maybe a bag or two,--WHOOPS I got the dang alarm again!\

Is anyone else having or have had this problem. Short of throwing the thing in the trash(And I'm too spoiled with the remote control for that) I am at my wits end. So I though maybe ya'll could help a little southern lady.
Any ideas will be helpful, do you think I could retro fit it with a new remote? The new Toyota remotes are more friendly and have the alarm button recessed more. Could they work?

are you talking about the panic button underneath the lock/unlock? that's strange...i might have hit it once or twice accidently, but it's never been a problem. do you have the trunk/lock/unlock remote, or just lock/unlock?

all i can think of is you have an tempermental remote does anyone else have the same problem?

if no one else does, maybe it's just that one remote you have.

i often have a problem with mine too. it's the panic button. i seem to always hit it accidentally. i don't have any suggestions, though. i just accept it. maybe toyota could get you one of the newer remotes. give your local dealer a call.

I've never had trouble setting off the panic button at all and I have my keys in my pocket, even when i'm not driving (safety blanket ).

yeah, it is the panic button. I hit it at least once a week, I have thought about but keep putting off swapping out the remotes. (Mine came with two). To answer the other question, no I wish I had the trunk release but it is just the lock, unlock and panic button remote.
