Question about Gen 1 interior

Question about Gen 1 interior

Postby OneMZ-FE » Fri Mar 17, 2006 1:26 am

I am in the process of possibly buying another Solara. The car is black with tan leather interior. I currently have the charcoal interior and I love it. If I purchase the car I am considering trading out the tan interior and installing my charcoal interior. Has anyone done this? Do you think it could be done with enough time? I have pretty much removed and re-installed nearly every peice of the interior minus the dashboard since I installed my eibach springs myself. Does anyone have a Solara manual that shows how to remove the dash and the rest of the interior? The only 2 pieces I am worried about are the dashboard and the headboard where the sunroof is. Do you think it would be a waste of my time or is it possible. Thanks in advance. Any advice/information would help.

It shouldn't that hard to strip the interior of the tan and put in the characol interior it would just take some time.

Be very careful with the headliner...even many professional upholstery shops wont touch ours with the sunroof. The guys I spoke with wanted around $250-300 just for replacing the headliner. I would strongly suggest you get a professional recommendation on the headliner from a shop and go from there. I wanted to do a tan to black conversion myself, but after getting the quote for the headliner, I decided to save myself the headache and money.

something with the design, i guess they are pretty tough to do for sunroofs in general, especially the solara sunroofs. something with attaching the fabric to the outsides and back I believe, but dont quote me on that. the guy that I spoke with said that he had tried one before and it was really difficult. He was considered the best upholstery guy in town too, so I took his advice seriously.
