60K service and clutch

Postby mailskobe » Thu Feb 27, 2003 9:24 pm

I just got a 60K mile service on my car and with i also did engine de-carb and injection service.
now, my clutch feels different and it tends to engage later than before. as a result, i end up working it more and one day while driving upto sunset strip on a steep incline, i made it smell really bad. :x

anyone experience anything like this before, i am thinking of going back to the dealership and asking what they did!!!
BTW, the service cost me $600

I'm sure they can easily adjust the clutch to make it engage earlier. I assume that you mean the clutch pedal comes up higher before engagement than it did before. As for the clutch burning on a steep hill; that may not be something new. Have you taken it up steep hills before and not had the problem? I have found that the stock clutches in Solaras are notorious for this. Several months after buying the car, I took it up a steep hill with a couple of passengers. Because of a lot of stop and go traffic, I had to stop and start on the hill several times, and the clutch started smoking and making a terrible smell. I tried it again a few months later, and the same thing happened. I posted about this problem on the sc3 board and got a bunch of response from people who had had the same problem. I think it's just a weak clutch. I recently replaced my clutch with a Clutchmasters Stage 2, but I haven't tried it on the same hill yet.
