Convertible top flapping at highway speeds

Hi all,
I have had my DREAM car for 7 months now. 2002 Silver Solara with Black soft top! However, going down the highway with the top up, I get the flapping noise around 50 to 60 mph. Over 60 it stops. Anyone else experience this? Just wondering since I am so new to owning this beautiful car! I hope to post pics soon.
Thanks all!

Hello...from a feloow ragtopper...the flapping is normal. There is a scientific explanation. As the car moves faster the air above the top is moving too and this leads to a lower pressure over the top. The pressure inside the car becomes greater and moves the top from the inside, creating instability. Once the car is moving fast enough, about 60 mph in my case, the top is fully pressurized from inside and get taut, thus no more flapping.

Yeah..long winded...but what do you expect from a Physics teacher.

Its been since I bought it. Yes, I find it annoying too. Just wondering if its something we owners have to put up with for driving such a Cool Car!
Thanks!

No question, the Solara Convertible is a nice ride! I get plenty of looks while i'm driving it. Just wish the top didn't flap. I had a top shop tell me he could stretch it for about $100. I dunno, I think I'll live with it. 8)
