Quickshifter

It looks like it's easier to install the quickshifter by removing the shifter assembly, should I do this or leave it on and install it? Also any idea what specific tools I need? Thanks Jon. :-?

I had to remove the center console, glove box, left dash trim etc. to get the assembly out. It's lots of busy work but it's way easier to install it when the entire assembly is out. I think Steve Chung managed to do it without removing the shifter assembly but he must've been a magician. As I recall all you need is long nose pliers to get clips on and off, screwdrivers, hammer and socket set, and some grease. Use a socket to install the circular end clip. Just use one big enough to clear the bolt yet able to hold the clip. From there you can tap it on or use a big pair of channel lock pliers and press it together. Lastly, don't forget how the wire clips go on. Good Luck.

BTW, those end caps are extra and you may also get and extra circular clip. Don't reuse your old one.

Yep, it actually took a lot longer than I expected. Just like how Vampire said...I had to pretty much remove my entire dash...but believe me...IT"S WORTH it...i don't know how I ever survived without the Quickshifter...it is sooooooooooooooooo Awesome!!! :D

I installed mine without having to remove the assembly. Just like paul said...have those tools listed above and you will be fine. Make sure you don't accidentally lose the speed clip (locking fastener) for one of the bolts that hold down the plastic assembly lock.

I love finding these old postings and making them current.

Toyota no longer makes a quickshifter for the Solara. However, I found another company that does. TWMPerformance

They are actually having a sale right now. Just thought I'd let you know.

They also offer something really cool. Check this out:

Sorry, I didn't realize I was whoring.
A quickshifter will be my next mod. I found this post and thought I'd update it a little. And, as you said, some of you already knew. Well, I'm not talking to you. I'm talking to the ones that *don't* know.
Thats the whole idea of this message board. To share ideas and info. Sorry to have offended you.
