Worrisome Scent

Worrisome Scent

In the past few days, I've noticed a smell of Burning plastic in the car. I have NO idea what it is, because I smell with or without the AC on, or with or without the lighting on...could it be oil? Havent had an oil change or anything since December and the last thing I did under the hood was re-align a headlight (Which I had to move the battery to do) Anyone have any idea what this smell is?

Ok, this might be a bit weird, but something similar happened on my parents Camry. Make sure nothing has been caught on your exhaust. All that had happened with their car was a Wal-Mart bag was melting on the pipe. I hope this is all it is man.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Check the engine compartment. sometimes it can jus be something cought or maybe some leaking very slowly that u cant see right away. is this smell only when the car is on..?? or even after u turn off the car.??

Its more likely a plastic bag that has melted on the exhaust piping somewhere. If it was the burning smell of oil, that would only be obvious if the last guy who changed your oil didn't wipe up under the filter.

I really hope thats all it is...I gave a brief look and didn't see anything, but tommorow I'm gonna check under the car and hopefully find a plastic bag...it's likely since I work at a Supermarket.
The smell is only when the car is on, and usually only for a minute. I can smell it about 5 minutes into my trip and don't smell it as often when the AC is on. Hopefully, I'll find something tommorow, if not, I think Im in trouble.

if it is a plastic bag, scrape off what you can. be careful b/c the exhaust piping and the cat will be hot. the rest you'll have to live with until it melts off.
