Weird problem with dome light, Please help?

I have had this problem for a month with my 99 SLE V6, the dome light will not light up with keyless entry nor when I open the doors. But it works when I push the button. I checked all the fuses and all are ok. Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

Which one, the back one over the center of the car, or the map light near the visors? The ones near the visor don't respond to the doors, even though it'll be a dream come true if that were the case.

Or just a simple hot wire tester will suffice for this case as well.

I've had the same problem with my 99 SLE. I installed LEDs under the dash instead of fixing it.

if your referring to the lights in front on your (where the sunroof controls)are located - then these do not respond to doors and more like map ligths. The ones behind you (in the middle of the headliner) are the ones that respond to doors.

If its the latter then this is for you.
Locate the black rubber like thingie that is by the body of the car. Its the sensor below the door latch that secures the door to the car (its on the body of the car - not the door side when the doors are shut). See if you can open the rubber thingie and inspect the sensor...I sprayed wd40 on it and depressed it in a few times and you will be able to see how this works with the inside lights. If nothing is going on..then you need to replace the sensors.
