Passenger window frozen

Passenger window frozen

Postby EmeraldSLE » Sun Oct 08, 2006 3:41 am

I need some advice from you guys. For some odd reason, my passenger window decided to stop working. I made sure the lock switch was not on, and checked the fuse boxes. I saw no fuse labeled "pwer windows", and the driver side works just fine. Do the windows have seperate fuses, and if so, where are they??? Thanks, gang. 8)

Yeah, sounds like a broker motor. Could also be off track. Do you hear any noise when you press the button?

Nope, no noise at all. And it was working just fine, which is why I thought it might be a fuse. As a side note, I was trying to set my homelink for a different garage door opener (which I could not get to work either), and after that I noticed the window not working. Beats me... 8)

Could be a broken wire, or the fuse. Unfortuantely, I don't know where the fuses are (silly, I know).

Why not just take it into the dealer for an estimate? They shouldn't charge for that and then you'd know what it was.

Yep, I could go to a dealer, but I prefer to eliminate the obvious first, so when they tell me the window motor is broke, the door is going to fall off, and will probably sieze my engine in the process, I can say ok.... here is my checkbook. 8)

id just take the door panel off and take a look. theres a tutorial here somewhere that shows you exactly how to take it off. not very hard

hey its funny that you posted this.....i just fixed my driver side window today........coincidence eh? Well with me it was my regulator which a lot of people call the "track" when they say it is off track. i bought one from dealer and me and a friend installed it. First time we tried the stupid ass wire snapped again but since there is warranty toyota replaced it for free. it was a bitc h but now my window opens again. With you it sounds like the motor because you arent hearing any sounds watsoever, i still heard the motor running even with regulator broken. Motor is much easier job than regulator but costs more money. My reg cost me 100 bucks and i asked how much motor was and i think he said about 250 so pray that it is just some faulty wires if not w/e it is really easy job. just hit me up if you have questions glad to help you out

Thanks for the feedback, gang. I couldn't imagine the motor was broken, cause it worked just fine and then quit, and of course, nothing EVER breaks on a Toyota... So just for grins this morning, I hit the switch, and BAM, the window works again! Very strange indeed, but I am thankful. 8)

it's probably a bad motor. my driver's side motor gave out on me earlier this year and it worked on and off a few times before it finally just STOPPED.

i'd replace that motor and in the meantime, don't roll it down too much before the motor dies on you with the window down. the motor actually wasn't that hard to replace, but it costs a grip of money. (300 dealer pricing)
