problems with the gen1.....

there are a few things going on with the car that have me puzzled, they are pretty random, any help is appreciated....

there is a funny niose coming from the rear of the car, whenever i go over a bump it feels like the struts are rubbing on the tire or something. ive got gen2 rims with 15mm spacers, im running the stock gen2 215 55s tires. could these tires be too big and be hitting the bottom of the strut?

if my old rims were 17x7, and the gen 2 rims are 17x7, why do i need spacers for one set and not the other?

is there a secret to removing the climate controls?? ive tried to replace the bulbs and i have NO slack in the unit.. thanks for the help guys

for the rim question, its because one has a different offset than the other. Meaning, the one with spacers is probable deeper than the other, while the other is the opposite and is pushed out towards the car more.

opps forgot, if its not the bushings, then it might be that you need your fenders rolled or cut. I had that problem with one of my sets of rims.

I had rubbing on rear's before, i wasn't so bad only when i had people in the rear - or when going over bumps...But i think this is more of a rsb relubing thingie (do you have teflon tape??)

I'm running Gen2 rims on my V6 Gen 1 with 15mm spacers, and I had the same problem. It was fixed when I rolled my rear fenders.
This is the space where I should write something witty or clever, hoping to show some personality.

I had a similar experience.
in my case, it turned out to be bad rear struts. just some thought.

are you trying to access the back of the controls??? if you're just replacing the bulbs you can feel around the back of the unit for the 2 #74 bulbs.

otherwise, if you still want to remove the whole thing, you may not have slack on it because of the cable. peek behind and you'll see what's holding it. 4 10mm bolts hold it in.

ok cool, will getting smaller tires eliminate the rubbing? say 225 45s?

chances are yes....

225/55 is more sidewall than our gen of cars originally came with- along with the different offset, I'm not surprised it's rubbing

225/45 or 215/50 should do the trick
