LED VS XENON BULB IN DOME LIGHT

LED VS XENON BULB IN DOME LIGHT

Postby SolAraB » Wed Nov 01, 2006 10:05 am

Hey just a quick question.......feel kinda stupid to post something like this up but i did actually try to search for the answer.....no luck. Anyways im looking to change my dome light, and NOT because i want to be all ricey and sh it, but as you all know its not really all that bright in our cars. I wish the front light next to sunroof would light up with my keyless entry.....w/e but i had bad luck with leds as in they are bright but they kinda point in a direction instead of brightening everything around like a xenon bulb.. They are both roughly same price on ebay and just wondering what you guys/gals think or if anyone has anything else they have done. Thnx a lot feedback always appreciate. Much respect.

Ive used both.

The "xenon" bulb is just a blue tinted regular bulb. The light output is whiter, but less bright than the stock bulb.

LEDs are brighter...if your looking right at the direction thier pointing. Otherwise, they are dimmer. As you can imagine, this doenst work too well for a dome light, but is better suited towards an adjustable map light or something (which we dont have, ours is fixed).

So stock is the best if your looking for brightness and still want the OEM light spread.

I used a blue LED blub. Its not very bright. The LED blub even has 2 leds. Stick with the stock bulb.

Yeah... The "xenon" ones are a rip-off. I tried replacing the trunk bulb once, but wound up just throwing them in the trash.

**EDIT** 2000th post! Oh well; I don't track numbers anyway.

I use 9-bulb LED dome light... and they're plenty bright enough.

I just use some Polarg xenon bulb, they are good stuff. Very bright, if my dome light is on you can see my face from down the street.
