Engine tempatured

Hi has anyone noticed or have a similar thing happen to them ...I recntly noticed since it was brought to my attention when driving the engine tempatured is usually higher for example ok you have the guage right you have cold then the middle and hot and then the red line extremely hot ...its usually past the middle but pretty close to the red prob bya quarter its that normal does the age of the car miles driving might have something to do about that ????

Unless you have a malfunction in the performance of your gage, you should not see an increase in temperature regardless of the age/mileage on your car, unless there is a problem. Heat is indicative of an issue somewhere.

Things I would consider:


1) Coolant level incorrect (low)

2) Thermostat sticking

3) Timing incorrect

4) Water pump (or belt)

5) Head gasket leaking

6) Crack in head

Not necessarily in that exact order, but it would be a good starting point.


That's what comes to my mind right off hand....


Note: Since you are STOCK and N/A, #5 & #6 are not AS likely as an inducted motor.... but age, or durability driven factors such as the first 4 are definitely suspect....

I would say thermostat as well

all i know is you are f**ked, it should not pass middle line. maybe your coolant temperature sensor is malfunctioning but most likely you might just have a bad thermostat
