Starting up the car when its warm

Starting up the car when its warm

Postby viper1400 » Tue Jan 23, 2007 3:52 pm

I have been having a really weird problem. When I go to start up the car in the morning when the engine is cold, there is a little bit of hesitation but the car does start up and idle at a good 1200-1500rpms. The problem is that if I turn off the car for about 5 minutes or less and then try and turn it on again, it hesitates and only idles at around 600rpms then it sounds like the engine is choking and the engine dies in like 5 seconds.

Anyone ever have a problem like that or know what might be going on? I was thinking either spark plugs (havent replaced them for about 80k mi) or the thermostat that I got installed a little while back...maybe neither? Please help...this is pissing me off.

Idle Position Sensor might be going bad. Very common problem for the solara and camry...

I've had this go back on my Camry and I know of a few members who have had this problem with there solara's...

clean your iac with throttlebody cleaner

you can also turn up your base idle to help fix this and let your iac sensor catch up to your readings
