Yet another ABS Light Question - after searching for answer

Postby kaarona1 » Thu Jan 25, 2007 6:14 am

After my rear suspension nightmare, I still have my ABS light on. we (the mechanic and myself) looked at the rear ABS sensor lines and they are not ripped or torn in any way. He disconnected them when he dropped the suspension. What else could cause this light to be on?

If the rear sensors were damaged, would the ABS on the front still work? Beacuse they do not.

I have heard someone say they it may be low break fluid.... Would this cause all ABS to not work?

Thanks fellow Solara owners!

Damaged from within? Yea, but I am trying to figure out two things: 1) What is wrong with my ABS and 2) Is it the guy who replaced my struts and mounts fault.

If the ABS light is on, do the ABS not work at all?

It might be one of the fronts ones.
The sensor sould be damaged.
you would look for a little black box near the DRL on the passenger side, and plug 2 wires into 2 ports and it will flash what sensor is messed up.
And if the ABS light is on, that doesn't mean the brake fluid is low, just one of your sensors are messed up.
If 1 sensor is messed up then the whole ABS doesn't work, trust me my ABS light has been on for about a year i think, and i know which ABS sensor is messed up already, just expensive for 1 ABS senosr.

One off the key point i was told when doing my own suspension is to be very careful with the sensors. They are very sensitive which if handled rough can cause the abs light to come on. check all your sensors connection.
like ---CAMRAZY--- said Damage within the sensor can be causing the light to turn on

Thanks for the help guys. What do you mean by "you would look for a little black box near the DRL on the passenger side, and plug 2 wires into 2 ports and it will flash what sensor is messed up."

whats DLR?
I have a diagonistic box to plug the code reader under the hood. Is that it?

Sorry if that sounds stupid.
