HELP! I dropped stuff into the parking-brake-handle-thing!!

I was installing new light bulbs behind my gauge cluster. I guess I got a little excited! Doh. I opened the packaging and the bulbs shot into the air. Freaking...they fell directly into my parking brake-handle-thing (whatever it's called...you know what I mean).

Help! How do I open that sucker up? Maybe I can do a little cleaning while in there, too.

There should be a bolt in your arm-rest compartment, unscrew that and you should be able to break apart that whole assembly including the hand-ebreak part.
Yeah, I've owned 2 Solaras so.............................Image

jaime's right. just look in the center console compartment (that storage area with the arm rest as its cover) and lift up the 'carpet' at the bottom. there should be like 2 screws. remove those and slide it out towards the backseat, it'll come right out.

THere are more screws than that...

First, pry open the bezel around the shifter. Toward the center (cup holder side) there should be 2 screws holding the center console on. Take those off... then take the bolts out from under the little 'carpet' insert that is inside the "arm rest console" itself. It should slide off and what you dropped will probably be under the driver's seat... maybe under the carpet too =x hopefully it didn't go too far in

Yep, the bezel, the screws underneath it, the bolts in the inside of the console box and you're set. It's pretty easy to remove. The RS3000 VIP ecu is located right there behind the e-brake assembly.

I see the bolts in the console box, but I can't get the bezel off of the shifter. Do you just pry it off?

Thanks...

Yea... it feels as if it's gonna break... just pry off the side closer to the ebrake first... then slowly move around the 'rectangle' taking off each part that is snapped on. Do it slowly though

damn. I'm hating the previous owner of my car more and more everyday. when i opened up the center console with the HVAC and cd player, I noticed he had spilled coca-cola everywhere. it was filthy nasty to clean up.

then i found out he put on these really crappy T-rated tires...on my V6

he also replaced the windshield wipers with some POS brand that left scratches on the metal wiper arms (now starting to rust).

now i open up the bezel. surprise. freaking nasty under there. i almost wish i'd never opened it. there're pieces of food everywhere and it's so disgusting. omg.

anyways...haha! thanks for all of your help guys. really appreciate it.
