Hi...my sylvania silverstars went out on my solara...only lasted 7months.. as a replacement...i'm thinking of real HID...anyone have any suggestions where to buy besides ebay?...ebay seems to only have low quality bulbs..
do you think philips ultinon 6000K bulbs are worth the money?
or even catz?..have any of you heard hanabi? redlinemax? or just any korean or taiwan made bulbs should be fine?
thanks for any inputs~

oh..for those of who converted their headlights to HID...do we have to upgrade our fuses on a solara?

You should post this on aftermarket thread.

Many things to look for in an Hid Kit:

Ballasts should be made by Hella, Sylvania, or Phillips (These companies make them for Lexus, Audi, MB, BMW, etc and they last)

The projection of an HID kit on a Solara will never reach the output of per say a BMW but you come very close (our lighting mounts and lenses are not made for HID)

Go with a kit that is Plug and Play

Kits that cost below $200 are not worth the cost

Make sure you go with a reliable website when buying these kits and check their warranty and return policy

Installation will take approx. an hour

No Bulbs can reach the output of HID. There is no difference in projection from a 6500k (Blue) kit to one of 9000k (Purple)

Right now the technology is not worth getting a kit with a high beam because there is not much difference than the low.

Pricey

Here is a good site where I got mine:

I ordered a kit from www.misterjung.com and its a true plug and play kit. They're okay. They come with Hella ballasts and the bulbs are unknown. But as for installation, it was easy and took 10 minutes. You just have to find a good spot to mount the ballasts. I had to replace the fuse with a 30 tho.

Try to keep receipt(s), if any from misterjung, as his business is pretty shady. Just something to keep in mind.
