Air conditioning filter

Air conditioning filter

Postby aleath » Sat Jun 14, 2003 9:52 pm

I was looking through my maintenance guide and noticed that at 10,000mi you're supposed to change the air conditioning filter. Where is that located on the Solara? I know on some cars it is under the plastic trim that is around the windshield wipers. How much do these filters usually run? Anywhere on the internet to get them or would dealer be the best bet?

Hmm...lemme look in my Haynes manual and if I find it, I'll post here. I wonder if by changing the filter it'll keep the aircond unit from developing that nasty mildew smell that happened in my old Camry.

solaras do not have an air conditioning filter. in your manual it says @10K to "change the a/c filter (avalon, camry)"
2002-on camry's and on have a/c filters (also known as pollen filters)
2000-on avalon's have them.
solara's don't have them at all. i'm willing to bet the 2004 models will have them.
not all toyota's have em. only half the models do. camry, corolla ('03-on), avalon, celica ('00-on), rav4 ('01-on), prius ('01-on), highlander ('01-on), 4runner ('03-on), landcruiser ('98-'99).
and that's it. all other models don't have em at all.

That's your problem there, it's suppose to blow, DUH!

Just get a freon charge, and you should be fine.

My Camry's fan is actually comparable to the A/C itself.

Our cars use 134a or a variant of it. Freon R12 is banned by the EPA since 92 on newer vehicles.

I use the term "cold air maker" :D I think I need a recharge too... it's not as cold as it used to be from the dealer... haha (luckily my dad has a refrig. license and my friend has one too... so I can ask which one from my friend, and get it from my dad) 8)
