Dead Solara..

On Wensday evening July 9. After a good day of driving around after my July 4th trip from AZ to Cali and back. Turned on the car and bang, this low squeal and pow, no power to most parts of the car. Dim dashlight, interior light. no good responses. I opened my hood to check if it was a battery issue and it sure was. Acidic corrosion all over the connectors and battery connectors. Waited for my friend's friend who was a ex-car mechanic. cleaned off the corrosion and stuff with baking soda and a battery cleaner. Jumped my car and tested out everything. Turned on the car lights after it was running past 5mins. POW, dead car. Jumped the car again, pow no power once the lights went on. After about 5jumps, the car failed to even start up again. no matter after 2 tries. Had to tow it back to my dealership.

Its a horrible sight!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My 2000 model solara is only 3yrs old with about 35k on its engine. I even did the Blue Service+ New tires not to long ago either!!!

The service rep called me up today and told me it maybe a serious issue concerning the fuel injectors or even worse. I'm praying everything is under warrenty since i bought this car brand new with about 15miles under the hood when i test drove it.

My car may have suffered some bad injuries from the road trip considering i never drove my car around that much for about 2 days when I reached my friend's place in cali. I doubt something could've gotten into the fuel lines but its possible since AZ is kinda of a desert and when its windy, no matter what, dusts is flying even if u leave the gas hole open.

I hope for good and satisfactory results without having to pay a few hundred dollars considering i payed enough already for the blue service and wheels. Including now needing a oil change.

It could have been a bad battery that took an alternator! (i know it happened to me). but if totoya said it had something with a fuel injectors...and if its less than 36K miles..its all good! toyota is good about that...NOT TO MENTION: before you reach 36K miles, toyota gives you an option to purchase extended warranty on your vehicle (up to 96K or 98K miles) for a price. If i were you, i'd get that for sure...

compare that to their increase in car sales and the answer is no. also, nowadays with the internet, you hear about more of them.

Nah! I'd have to agree with Hari! Maybe I'm comparing my solara to our cressida and crowns..but little things annoy me..little shiver in the steering....heck our cressida was the smoothest baby alive..cluth was firm and like the day we first bought her....i've got sqeeks in the drivers seatbelt (i know i'm not the only one)..and the sun-glass storage rattles sometimes...all that at 30K. Its better than 90% of the industry..but its still not the same....

My 2000 solara had battery acidic corrosion problem too, but i went for warranty claim before it made more damage. The inital damage caught my attention was battery holder corrosion and green stuffs on the top.

I don't believe this at all. You are exposed to a small percentage of people who may experience additional problems as a result of mods. They are still bulletproof cars and someof the best on the market

is tamago modded? i didnt think he was. but either way, i mean i still beleive toyota is a great brand and stuff, we've owned so many, but with all these sludge problems, and all the problems we've had with our 95 avalon (put nearly 6-7 grand into that car), i start to get worried. plus, my car's engine is fine right now, but the interior has a buncha rattles and stuff and that kind of shows me lack of quality control. i guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens

VERY GOOD NEWS HERE AT THE FRONT LINES!

It was pointed down to a bad battery but also since those jumps to my car also took a amp as well. Ick. My friend actually made a bad booboo and reversed the polarity on the battery to cause the amp to be blown. ICK! B

The service rep knew me as I've dealt with him the time i got my blue servicing and the wheels+alignment so he pushed the lines a bit and got my car serviced for free. I got my wheels back although my car feels a bit loose. Not as tight on the steering or the e-brake. The suspension feels weak too but I'm assuming it was just the bad heat as my car was out in the sun for awhile as my car interior felt like a steam room. Back on the road which is better then nothing but i'm guessing I can only push my car battery every 3yrs considering I use the premium 8speaker JBL package that packs a heavy juice consumption.

Also for any mods to my car. I only installed myself one of the toyota snap in Alarm systems to replace the simple remote lock system i had b4. Other then that. This car is clean from other mods at this point in time. I have plans to begin with just the airbox and drop in a trd filter when I get my next oil change soon. Also, suspension. But wouldn't this account to breaking warrenty?

please don't make accusations like this unless you see it on a day to day basis.
we service ~100 cars a day and only get sludge motors once every 2 months. besides, it only happens due to lack of maintenance.

well ok, ill agree with you on that, but our avalon engine seized up BECAUSE of sludge, spent 3,600 for a new one, so i have a lil right to be miffed
