Besides more power what benefits are there with rewinding the alternator?

I run 1300 watts on a stock alternator with no cap and My car still works fine but my lights dim with the beat if I crank it up.

What kind of stereo are you getting? I run 700rms with a 1 farad cap and it seems to be working out fine. I know a guy with a crappy car that runs 2000rms with a 1 farad cap and he's doing just fine. Getting a new alternator/another battery is great if you are really serious about SPL, but other than that, I would say if it ain't broke dont fix it. 8)
