Dings and dents

Dings and dents

Postby Sojonr » Wed Jul 23, 2003 11:47 am

Hello,
My solara has had two door dinks in the past year. Is there some kind of tasteful molding that can be applied? The dings are about 8-10 inches above the molding strip. It costs about $100 per dent to remove. A clear coat rubberized strip would work but I can't find any such product.

i don't know about the clear coat strip, but there's a thread about the ding king here: http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopic.php?t=1524&highlight=ding+king

Nahhhhh :x That's waaayyyyy too much, buy the ding king, what is it like $ 29.99 USD? Then you can use it over and over again... Use it three times and that will be your $100 bucks.

I did not use it on my Solara, but rather my Ford Explorer and it works very well, I suggest it to anyone... I decided the dents in my Solara weren't that noticable so I tried it on the older/off road vehicle.

Please remember, that all cars get dents eventually so don't get too worried about it, but if you just can't stand those dents then try the Ding King, don't waste 100 bucks per dent, save it for a mod... maybe a Supercharger!!!

if the ding isnt too major, and the paint wasnt damaged, you can take it to a paintless dent removal place. they can usually get ur dents out for 75 dollars per panel (meaning a door or something) plus 10 bucks a dent. and u dont have to get ur car repainted or anything. so if the ding king doesnt work, then look up a paintless dent removal shop in your area and get an estimate

Thanks for the info, I'll try to hold out for another ding, before visiting the shop. I don't trust the ding king. I had a bad ding right next to the ridge on the driver side rear quarter panel and the Dent pros removed it-did a great job, but it cost ~95.00. I figure that it would be cheaper to spend 2-300 for some kind of invisible shield.
I'd like to make mods to the solara later on, how much HP boost do you get with a turbo kit? I'll be getting some new tires next week, the factories are bald after 25k.

The factory tires are already bald? Arent they suppose to last like 80,000 miles? Do you take your car drifting or sumthin? I thought low profile performance tires were the ones that had fast tread wear.

They can't pass the penny test, had them rotated 3 times and they're the factory Pirellis, must be soft rubber. I'm thinking of replacing them with Potenza RE950's. Don't understand why they wear out so fast, but I checked other posts here and I'm not alone.

are u v6 or I4? if ur I4 there are a few turbo kits around, search the forum, there are plenty of posts about it. its costly tho, and u get up to the same hp as a v6 i beleive. it would be cheaper to sell ur car and just get teh v6. if u are arleady v6, then theres the trd supercharger, and there are tons of posts on that too. i beleive hp gains around about 70 at the flywheel, and similar figure for torque, but depends on the pulley you use.
