Frustrated

Hello, I bought a 01 solara used around Oct/Nov 2007. Around January, the CEL came on and I had to get the ABS sensor replaced and the charcoal canister vent cleaned ($200). Then, just a couple weeks ago I had to get the air conditioner sealed and recharged ($160). I also spent $250 to get the windows retinted. Now, I was just driving on the highway and I activated cruise control and I look down and I have CEL. I'm very frustrated because so far 4 things have gone wrong and I've put so much money into this car. I've owned it for 6 months and have only put 1500 miles on it (it has 78k now) and crap is going wrong with it. The car has previously had two owners, the previous one only had it for 1.5 years. Is this thing going to keep having crap go wrong with it? I guess maybe I just needed a place to vent this out, but I thought a bought a Toyota, not a ford.

Thanks for the ear.

That is what happens when you buy an older used car that probably wasn't looked after very well. Things eventually break on all cars.

Just sit tight! Like adam said, all used cars eventually start chewing on your wallet. New cars just delay that for some unknown amount of time and have warranty coverage.

If you want, have a trusthworthy mechanic have a look at it to see if there are any particular issues where you should consider selling the car. If it looks OK, keep working with it (if you don't mind) and eventually you will have the car back in shape and happy once again.

Wish you success!
