I setup your poll. If you don't like the Q/A then just edit your post and change it.

I say go with the American Muscle. Much more fun. Of course you'll always lose money when you restore a car, but you'll always lose money hooking up a car too.

...Its just something about the sound of a real v8 that gets me

I say buy as many cars as you can. Aside from my Solara I have a 2002 Impreza, 93 Del Sol, 89 F-150, 73 Mustang convertible, 65 Mustang convertible, 64 Galaxie convertible and a 64 Falcon wagon. My insurance agent actually sends over callgirls on my birthday and special occasions. I guess they really love me in that office.

BTW where did you find a 427 smallblock?

Having run many old fast cars, mostly big block Oldmobiles, I understand the difficulty of the choice. I guess it depends on what you are using the car for. If you just want a car for occasional use, there is no question that the old musclecar will be faster for less money, although it may not look as good since extensive body restoration is expensive. But if you want a daily driver, go with the Solara. It is much more reliable, nice to drive, quiet, smooth, and burns way less gas.

For me, I have never seen the point of a car you don't drive every day, what is the point of having a fast car you only drive occasionally? I want to enjoy it all the time! That's why I have the Solara now.

Well the reason I have so many cars is actually a combination of factors. I'm the only child of an only child, My Dad is a car freak and got me my first car at 13 to keep me out of trouble, I'm 34 with a good job, and last but not least, I married well. Like I told all my friends. It's just as easy to fall in love with a rich woman as it is a poor one. I also have a Honda CBR and a Kawasaki Ninja.

Now before everyone gets pissed and starts calling me names I'm not some rich prick who just writes a check and picks up my car. Every night after work I have grease under my fingernails and a pissy wife that wants to know what the garage has that she doesn't The answer is air conditioning but I'll never tell her that.

Although I have never had a 69 Charger I did start out as a Mopar freak before some strange happening that turned me into a Ford biased person. When I was in High School I had a 74 Challenger, 74 Cuda, 71 Challenger convertible, and a 69 Cuda convertible. I even have a tattoo on my back of the Plymouth(RIP) logo on my back.

But no vehicle has ever wanted to make me modify it as much as my Solara. Resistance is futile..................Solara pulling me in...................Draining my bank account and shooting credit card limits in the ass.............AAAAARRRRGGGGHHH :D

You won't find Toyota reliability in an older muscle car, but you won't find that gorgeous Pushrod V8 rumble in a Toyota. Depends on what you're going to do with it, how often you want to drive it... I've got a '63 Riviera sitting in the front yard as my playtoy, but I'm not stupid enough to think it'll handle a 500-mile road trip without major work.

It's a matter of preference. Is this for personal fun, or a chick magnet? The muscle car will work better as a chick magnet, but like others have said... don't expect the road manners your Solara has.
