Stock talk about the Generation 1 and 1.5 Toyota Solara which were produced from 1999 to 2003.

When did 04 Solaras start coming off the line?

When did 04 Solaras start coming off the line?

As some of you may have read in one of my other threads, I'm on the verge of buying an 04 Solara. But I'd rather not get one of the first off the line in case there were some problems. So, do any of you know what the first production date is on the 04 Solaras so I can compare it to the manufacture date of the car I'm thinking of buying? I know that because this is a Toyota I shouldn't have to worry about quality control, but I'm just a bit worried about buying a newly designed car in its forst year of production.

As always, thanks for your assistance!

It's still too soon to have true changed. I think they started coming off the line around Aug. 17th, from what I read somewhere...

This forum is sort of like the movie "Field of Dreams": If you ask the question; you'll get the right answer!

Thanks for the production date!

'04...

I just test-drove an '04 SLE with the 5-speed automatic w/SD (select-drive) and 225 hp and 3.3 liter, very nice, but I'm still very happy with my '99 for now. If you're in the market for a brand new '04, go through a wholesaler, don't pay MSRP (that holds true for any vehicle, new or used). The future for Solara is bright, it's a keeper.

Colorado,

I agree, the future for Solara is bright!

I have always had positive experiences dealing with dealerships when I purchase my autos. I do my homework and NEVER pay MSRP.

But this "wholesaler" idea intrigues me. I've never heard about "wholesalers." Please explain how I'd go about dealing with a wholesaler. Is there a website? Do they deal in new cars? If so, where do they get the cars from? Are they authorized by the auto manufacturers to sell their cars?

Wow! Sorry for all the questions, but this idea interests me. Plus, I can maybe save some coin!
