The October, 2003 issue of "Automobile" magazine (page 105) has a brief (half page) article about the 2004 Solaras. These are some quotes from the article:

"The Camry Solara is so refined that it ought to have been the coupe version of the Lexus ES300. It even looks like a Lexus..."

"...the only credible competition for the Solara is the Honda Accord coupe, and the Toyota outclasses the Honda in many important ways. It is more upscale, for one, with a beautifully crafted leather, chrome, and frosted-plastic interior. It is also remarkably quiet, with little of the coarseness that occasionally makes itself known in the Accord."

"...body motions of the Solara's sport-tuned suspension made us confident enough to push the tires and the skid-control system well past their thresholds."

"(The Solara) belongs to a higher class of automobile, both luxurious and merciful."

Article written by Eddie Alterman for "Automobile."

I'm a tad biased, but I have to agree with all he said!

:D Makes me want one more... but the GTO looks similar and has 350 hp for about $10k more =D but maintenance costs that may follow... =(

yay toyota, you've done it again... but we're probably gonna see a lot more Solaras on the road if people read the reviews... "wow, a $26,000 ES eh?" =-D

That's exactly mine concern, as well. While I love to read positive reviews about the Solara, the trade-off is more people become aware of what a great car this is and will go out a buy one.

Maybe I shouldn't have brought it up!

Well... in Southern California, I see them all the time.... I bought mine in July of 02 and I never saw any Solaras on the road... then, all of a sudden, in September or October, it became more common... but now... it's ridiculous... at my school there is 1 parking structure... 5 levels... There are at least 2-3 per level (avg) then I see at least 10-20 a day during my commute (about 30-50 miles but sometimes more)
1GR-FE ftw!
