Cleaned throttle body, now have check engine light!

Ok so my car's idles would flucutate up and down, and sometimes dropping to 0 rpm - thus shutting off my car :(

I found this article on how to clean the throttle body (having a dirty throttle body can cause dropping idle):
http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/maintenan ... ttle_body/

Has anybody ever cleaned their throttle body? The directions on my Carb Cleaner say not to spray into the throttle body with the engine off. But my car will not stay on with the air duct unclamped. So anyways I cleaned it with my car off.

After cleaning the throttle body, I am now getting a check engine light. My OBDII scan tool shows trouble code: P0121 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "A" circuit range/performance problem.

Anyone seen this trouble code? My car has only 35k miles on it, is it normal for throuttle body to get dirty this quick?

Anyone else have same problems like me? Maybe I should take my car to a dealer to have them clean the throttle body - anyone do this or know how much it costs? Wonder if they will clean the throttle body for free cuz its still under warranty?

Lots of questions... appreciate all your input! :)

Thanks for the info. I didn't know what a TPS is. But now I do :) :

Well I guess I'll be taking my car back to Longo for a possible bad or mis-adjusted TPS.

Argh, I already took my car to Longo last week when I had idling problems, they said their master mechanic looked at my car and that they didn't find anything wrong... what bs!!! They probably didn't want to service it because its getting close end of warranty.

That happens to me sometimes. It usually happens in the early morning, or late night. The car would start, idle at around 500, then drop :-? FYI, im 62k on a 99 SLEV6

Ok I just started my car tonight (to test it out in cold weather), great news it starts up fine!!! :D no weird idling or vibrations or engine dying!!! I'm so happy. Damn... finally, I guess cleaning the throttle body with the carb cleaner did the trick. I recommend to anyone having weird idles to read the article above on how to clean the throttle body, and then you will be set to go! And right now for normal idle, it is one notch above the 0.5 rpm.

first... when u use the throttle body clener... your supposed to rev the engine to suck in it and keep it from cutting off... also.. my car has been idling wierd in te mornigns and will sumtimes set offa check engine light.. my mechanic thinks that its a leaky injector.. i'm at 126k.. but my 1-3-5 cylinders have been misfiring so i think i need some wires cuz 1-3-5 are on the same rear bank of the engine.. just my 2 cents

I cleaned mine with the air-intake cleaner spray. So far everything is ok.
